New Hope Borough Park Gifts Program

Dear Members of the New Hope Community:

The greatest natural resources of New Hope are the Delaware River and the Delaware Canal. The Borough owns lands both along the canal and the river. These public lands have not been used to their full advantage to complement New Hope’s status as a river town and to benefit our residents, businesses and visitors.

In 2004 the New Hope Park & Recreation Board initiated an ambitious program to inventory the Borough's open space lands and develop plans for comprehensive improvements. The recent floods caused drastic changes to our plans, but we are now back on track and a new park at 52 West Ferry Street has been added to our park improvement program, with construction scheduled to start in early 2008.

The Park Gifts Program was a great success in 2005, 2006, and 2007, providing a method of inviting local participation in beautifying and enhancing our park and open space facilities. Local citizens and businesses donated funds for benches, bike racks, and shrub and tree replacements.

We ask again for your support in 2008. Our Board’s goal is to examine ways in which the magic of New Hope can be fully realized through park, recreation and open space planning and improvements. Your comments and contributions would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely yours,

Earl Bierman
Chairman
