Stop by for summer in a jar! Owner Jerry Krone brings so many flavors of jams and pie fillings you may find it hard to choose. Bucks County Preserves Inc. began in 2003, making specialty jams for a high end Philadelphia restaurant. Every year, Jerry develops new flavors and products; he welcomes ideas for new flavors. With all his products, Jerry uses as much local fruit as possible and to allow the fresh natural flavors of the fruit to shine, adds no food coloring, preservatives or high fructose corn syrup. His offerings contain less sugar than most products. You can find Bucks County Preserves at Whole Foods and five area farmers’ markets.
As the season progresses, you’ll find our local bounty transformed into jams and pie fillings. A few of your choices… blackberry, blueberry, peach, apricot, raspberry, blackberry brandy, strawberry, plum, wineberry, apple butter, elderberry jelly, - well, you get the idea… Try one of his unusual flavors like Queen Anne's Lace or dandelion and for a savory accompaniment to meats - the hot pepper jelly. Jerry also makes pie fillings (try in yogurt, as a cookie filling or even straight from the jar...). Pie filling flavors go from the very popular Sour Cherry to the more exotic Pear/Pineapple. Jerry brings Solebury Farm fruit and cider in season. On a lucky day, you may even find his own fruit pies.
His jams make great hostess gifts or just a delicious treat for a friend or yourself. Gift boxes of these products are also available in varying sizes and he’ll take special orders any time. He sold out of canned peaches fast last year so for this season, it is best to order now.

Warren and Karen May retired from corporate America a few years ago to start their specialty coffee roasting company in Pipersville. The Coffee Scoop offers 21 Fair Trade Organic coffee selections by the pound. Sample right at the Market and talk to Karen about the many kinds of coffee she offers. Buy one for you and one for a friend. You get delicious coffee and Fair Trade peace of mind. The Coffee Scoop received its Pennsylvania Organic Certification in February 2007 and is also Fair Trade Licensed. Why Fair Trade? Consumers are increasingly aware of the social and environmental impact of coffee. This raises a need for labels which show coffee is grown in ways that are good for people, animals and the land. The farmers want their coffee certified with the hope of helping them and their families survive. Karen can tell you which co-op her coffee comes from and in many cases can name the farm and the farmer. Her commitment to supply the highest quality and freshly roasted coffee to their customers is evident in every sip. The Coffee Scoop belongs to the Specialty Coffee Association of America (S.C.A.A.) and Rainforest Alliance as well as The Bucks County Foodshed Alliance and the Audubon Society. Their decaffeinated coffees use a 100% chemical free process.

“So my kids are more inclined to try different vegetables if they’re fresh and local and delicious,” said First Lady Michele Obama – and we couldn’t agree more as both parents and farmers. For the 2009 Growing Season, Gravity Hill Farm will be selling over 40 kinds of certified organic vegetables from arugula to winter squash. And not just your ordinary vegetable varieties, but 6 kinds of beans, 5 kinds of beets and broccoli, 24 varieties of head lettuce and salad mix, 16 varieties of sweet and hot peppers, 6 kinds of watermelon and of course, our favorite — 40 varieties of tomatoes. And because kids will try anything if it’s purple, look for our purple broccoli, beans and carrots!
Gravity Hill Farm was founded in 2005 as a small organic family farm dedicated to principles of family, community and politics as much as business. Owner and Manager, David Earling, grew up on the river in Titusville, New Jersey, with farmers as neighbors and friends. He went off to NYC to find fame and fortune and then returned home with his own family to start Gravity Hill Farm. The name is for the famous section of Pleasant Valley Road where our farm is located and where nature defies gravity and actually pulls your stalled car UP the road! At the market you’ll meet our “other David” – Farm Manager, David Zaback. He'll tell you anything you want to know about the food we're growing (and how to prepare it) and why we grow it the way we do. And say “hi!” to his dad, Alan, who helps sell at the Market and is as proud of his son as David is of his vegetables

Milk House Farm Market

Newtown, Pa. 18940

Brenda Slack writes about her family farm: Our acre farm was established in the 1830s and has been primarily a dairy and crop farm until 1988 when my parents sold our Holstein herd. My father and I farm about 120 acres in Upper Makefield: 25+ acres in produce (me) and the rest in field corn, wheat, soybeans, and hay/straw (my Dad). I started The Milk House Farm Market in 2007 after a career as a mental health therapist when I decided to follow our deeply rooted family tradition of farming. In 2002, we added chickens for egg production; we use their composted manure to fertilize our fields, thus reducing our reliance on commercial fertilizer. This year my family and I planted strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, asparagus, and rhubarb. Although they are not harvestable this year, we plan a Pick Your Own next year and offer these wonderful fruits at our farmers’ markets. In addition, we have five bee hives ccc, for the farm this year for future honey sales and better pollination of crops such as melons, squashes, and the berries.
We grow hundreds of varieties of vegetables - many of them hard to find heirlooms which are often more flavorful and nutrition rich than grocery store varieties. In the fall you will also find lots of autumn and natural holiday decorations such as hay bales, corn and sorghum shocks, and pumpkins.
Come see for yourself a slice of Bucks County history and enjoy our healthy, delicious, high quality produce, honey, and eggs, whether at the Farmers’ Market or at our farm in Newtown.

Purely Farm specializes in Naturally Pastured Meats eggs, chicken, turkey, pork, and lamb. Come to the Market to meet farmers Joanna and Mark Michini who raise all of their animals on pesticide free pasture and use no hormones or antibiotics. “We are a small diversified farm dedicated to sustainable agriculture, the humane treatment of animals, and an organic way of life. It is our goal to help provide the local community with quality and wholesome organically pastured meats.”
Throughout the summer they will feature pork in a variety of retail cuts, whole chickens, and brown eggs. You can also find beautiful vegetables (greens, lettuce, heirloom tomatoes, sweet red peppers, broccoli and others) all grown without pesticides or petroleum fertilizers.
Through rotational pasture management, they raise healthy and nutritious (high in omega 3s and heart healthy fats) meats with distinct and savory flavor and unlike conventionally raised animals, Purely Farm's animals are not confined in tiny cages or pens. These farming practices also protect our land from erosion and our waters from pesticide and manure pollution. Their chicken and hog diets are supplemented with an organic grain ration while the lamb is 100% grassfed. By bringing pastured and organically fed meats to your family's table, you are taking an active role in promoting quality food essential to your family's health.

Tall Pine Farms

Under the Tall Pine Farms canopy, you will find everything to early spring greens in the spring to a wide variety of abundant summer and fall vegetables and fruit, plus vegetable herb and flower plants for your garden. Plus, if your puzzled about how to cook something, just ask Wendy!
Tall Pine Farms is the result of Mike and Wendi Skwara’s love of working the land. Since 1986 Michael has been heavily active in farming by working for nine different farm operations. Wendi was introduced to agriculture in 1997 in a greenhouse, which grew a strong desire to run her own greenhouses. In 2002, Michael met Wendi Seton, a fellow student at Delaware Valley College and in the winter of 2008, Wendi and Michael tied the knot. Tall Pine Farms is the result of the best ideas from each of these experiences.
Tall Pine Farms started in Trenton New Jersey, when Joseph Skwara (Michael’s Grandfather) purchased a free range chicken farm including a tractor. Joseph’s children soon learned how to grow strawberries, which they sold to neighbors and grandson Michael grew the prized crop, sweet corn, in his garden. This garden grew into a career for Michael. After graduating from Delaware Valley College, an opportunity presented itself to Michael and Wendi to place their education to the test; together they started Tall Pine Farms. The name reflects the tall pine trees that lined the driveway of the original Tall Pine Farm, but we added the “s” to represent the growth of the farm when the farming crossed the river into Pennsylvania. Today the original farm and tractor are still in use by Mike and Wendi Skwara.
